Highlights of the Entire Area
Tenshiba is the entrance area of Tennoji Park. Since its renovation in 2015, it has been developed around an approximately 7,000 square meter lawn—one of the largest in Osaka city. Surrounding the lawn is a lineup of dining options including 'bloom&brew,' a cafe with a West Coast American aesthetic that also carries plants and flowers; 'SORAIRO KITCHEN,' a 150-seat restaurant with a barbecue terrace; 'Aoi Napoli in the Park,' serving wood-fired Neapolitan pizza; and Tully's Coffee. For children, there's the indoor play space 'Bornelund PlayVille Tennoji Park,' the futsal court 'Captain Tsubasa Stadium Tennoji,' and 'PANZA' with indoor climbing and outdoor activities. Dog owners can visit 'Pet Paradise DX,' which features a shop, grooming, and a dog run. The area also includes 'GARDENER'S TENNOUJI,' an urban garden center stocking around 20,000 products, and 'Yottette,' a market selling Osaka-grown produce—making Tenshiba a place where park, commerce, pets, and food coexist in a single spot.
Free Lawn vs. Paid Individual Facilities
Entry to Tenshiba itself and relaxing on the central lawn are free. However, individual facilities such as Bornelund PlayVille, Captain Tsubasa Stadium Tennoji (futsal), and PANZA (climbing and activities) are each operated by separate companies and require their own fees. Since pricing and hours are set by each facility and temporary closures can occur, it's best to check the official website's news section on the day of your visit to get the latest information before heading out.
Easy Access to Tennoji Zoo and Abeno Harukas
Tenshiba sits right next to the Tenshiba Gate of Tennoji Zoo, making it easy to step off zoo grounds and relax on the lawn right away. Abeno Harukas and the shopping facilities around Tennoji Station are also within walking distance, and you can walk to Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai as well—meaning it's easy to combine visits, such as 'Zoo + Tenshiba' or 'Tenshiba + Harukas 300,' and build a half-day to full-day itinerary. This central location is one of the area's greatest strengths.
Long Hours That Cover Morning Through Night
The area is open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, wide enough to accommodate everything from a morning walk to a late dinner. Individual shop hours may differ, so check each shop's page if you have a specific place in mind for a meal or shopping. During the day, the area is lively with families and pets; come evening, more visitors settle onto the lawn for a quiet break—giving the area a different character depending on the time of day.
